About this activity

Come and discover the capital and commercial heart of the Dutch island of St. Maarten on this guided tour of Philipsburg.

Description

At the scheduled time we'll meet at the car park of the cruise terminal in Philipsburg. We'll begin our guided tour of the capital of Sint Maarten.

Our walking tour will take us to the Amsterdam Cheese and Liquor Store, a renowned Dutch cheese shop.

We'll then continue to the Sint Maarten Museum, which showcases many important photos and objects depicting the island's history. St. Maarten has been governed by France in its northern region and by The Netherlands in its southern region since the early 17th century.

Afterwards, we'll visit the Guavaberry Emporium and the St. Maarten People's National Liquor Factory, constructed on the site of a former synagogue abandoned in 1781.

We'll also see the façade of the Yoda Guy Movie Exhibit Museum, where special effects designer Nick Maley showcases props and costumes from the Star Wars movies.

Finally, we'll walk along the seafront, and approximately 2 hours later, our guided visit will conclude at the Courthouse, the Philipsburg House of Justice.
