About this activity

Join us as we explore the intricate operation of the Miraflores Locks and gain insights into the functioning of the Panama Canal, a remarkable achievement of human engineering.

Tour of the Panama Canal

Our journey begins at 8 am, when we will collect you from your accommodation in Panama City to proceed towards the Panama Canal. After a short 20-minute trip, we will reach Miraflores.

The Miraflores Locks represent the final segment of the Panama Canal before ships enter the Pacific Ocean. This system raises or lowers vessels by 16 meters (54 feet), based on their direction, whether they are sailing towards or from the Pacific.

During this experience, we will observe the transit of ships through the locks and explore the mechanics behind the gate operations. This fascinating procedure lasts roughly 30 minutes and occurs multiple times throughout the day.

Following this, you will have the opportunity to visit the Canal Visitor Center at your leisure, where you can delve into the history surrounding its construction. A fascinating detail is that the Panama Canal was considered the largest engineering project in the world up until the 1930s.

To conclude the tour, we will return you to your hotel approximately 4 hours after the initial pickup.

On this tour, we'll see the Miraflores Locks and observe the operation of the Panama Canal, one of the most spectacular engineering works ever made by mankind.
