About this activity

Drive or ride on board a 4x4 Jeep to admire the picturesque views of the countryside before reaching Christopher Columbus Park in Bariay, named after the famous explorer who landed there in 1492 and declared Cuba as “the most beautiful country human eyes had ever seen.” Embark on an unforgettable tour of the park that boasts numerous beaches lined with lush palm trees, forests with diverse vegetation, a vast cavern with limestone formations and views of the majestic Maniabon mountains, all preserved in its pristine state. See the site where Columbus’ ships anchored and witness the artistic monument made by the Taino peoples - indigenous inhabitants of the land - to commemorate the history of the clash between two cultures. Explore an authentic recreation of the Taino village, predating Columbus’ arrival, which includes 35 life-sized sculptures, and clusters of circular straw-roof huts where they lived and slept. Afterwards, enjoy a live show displaying the beautiful traditions and culture of the Taino through dance and combat performances. From there, take a lovely horseback ride through the park to explore beautiful landscapes before enjoying a delicious meal at the on-site restaurant. Afterwards, top off your amazing day with a thrilling speedboat ride over the sparkling waters of Marina Puerto de Vita.
