Punta Cana

Punta Cana Overview

Punta Cana is best known for its beautiful white beaches and a picture perfect seaside resort town that faces both the Caribbean and the Atlantic oceans. Punta Cana sits on the eastmost tip of the Dominican Republic in the La Altagracia Province and covers around 1,100 acres of beaches and coastline. There is a style to suit every traveller from family vacations to couples getaways and of course the perfect destination for golf lovers with world class champion golf courses.

The name Punta Cana refers to the sugar cane plantations that used to be the town's main source of economics until tourism took over in the 1970’s. Most famous for it’s beaches that sit on both the Caribbean and the Atlantic seas, with a coastline of around 100kms. The shallow waters and natural marine pools that line the coast make for a safe swimming environment and the mountainous backdrop is perfect for eco adventures.  The main shopping area is located in Bravo with shopping malls, fast-food stores, drug stores, fine restaurants, banks, clinics, workshops, supermarkets, and schools.

Getting there you need to fly into the Punta Cana International Airport, which is one of the busiest and connected airports in the Caribbean. Getting to your hotel if you don’t have transportation included you are best to pre-book your transport to save time and money on arrival and also so you don’t get stuck having to share a bus that will go from hotel to hotel.
